SUMMARY MINUTES OF DINNER MEETING

PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Hansen, Councilmembers Grossman, Gustafson, Montgomery and Ransom

ABSENT: Mayor Jepsen and Councilmember Lee

The meeting convened at 6:15 p.m.

Assistant City Manager Larry Bauman discussed upcoming Council dinner meetings with the Boards of Directors of the Ronald Wastewater District and the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce.

City Manager Steve Burkett explained the purpose of the current meeting to present the design drawings for the Aurora Corridor Project.

Public Works Director Bill Conner introduced staff and consultants. Anne Tonella-Howe, Aurora Corridor Project Manager, reviewed an aerial map of Aurora Avenue with channelization, sidewalk and median designs. She noted specific problems of maintaining consistent widths of some project elements and of satisfying Washington State Department of Transportation (WDOT) requirements, and she discussed options for resolving these problems.

Councilmember Grossman asked about impacts to property owners seeking to develop or redevelop properties.

Ms. Tonella-Howe reviewed comments from WSDOT regarding median refuge bulbs and intersections. She also discussed problems with the right of way on 160th Street east of Aurora Avenue.

Councilmembers discussed options for 160th Street to reduce the impact of traffic in the adjacent neighborhood and to provide an appropriate solution for the intersection at Aurora Avenue.

Councilmember Gustafson asked how much property the City will need to buy on Aurora Avenue between 145th and 165th Streets.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
