CITY OF SHORELINE
SHORELINE CITY COUNCIL
Monday, November 26, 2007 Shoreline Conference Center
6:00 p.m. Highlander Room
PRESENT: Mayor Bob Ransom, Deputy Mayor Maggie Fimia, and Councilmembers Rich Gustafson, Janet Way, Cindy Ryu, and Ron Hansen
ABSENT: Councilmember McGlashan
STAFF: Bob Olander, City Manager; and Julie Modrzejewski, Assistant City Manager
Mayor Ransom called the meeting to order at 6:20 p.m.
Bob Olander started the meeting by reviewing the information contained in that evening’s Council’s reading material folder.
The Council discussed the Sister Cities Association activities, the funding allocated in the City’s budget, and their expenses for hosting a visiting delegation and visiting abroad. Mayor Ransom announced that he will be making an amendment to the 2008 Budget to increase the Sister Cities city appropriated funds to $15,000. He believes this aligns well with what other neighboring jurisdictions appropriate for this sort of activity.
The Council also discussed various membership dues costs such as Suburban Cities Association and Enterprise Seattle. Deputy Mayor Fimia and Councilmember Ryu questioned the benefits of membership and suggested withdrawing the City’s membership in some cases.
The Council discussed the School Resource Officer (SRO) funding and how the schools use this resource. Deputy Mayor Fimia and Councilmember Ryu supported funding this service.
Finally, the Council discussed their annual holiday party for City staff. They decided to host the event on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Spartan Recreation Center from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
